Sir Tony This Ranchology pasta salad recipe called for ingredients and seasonings that sounded like a perfect combination, so I was surprised when it just fell flat. I was really unimpressed. Not at all flavorful. It was all beautiful to look at because the mayonnaise didn't obscure any of the colors. Thank goodness I decided to cube the cheese instead of slicing it, because it added some texture and color. At this point I realized I had nothing to lose, because all I had was a very boring mayonnaise pasta salad, and that's what I rated myself on - so I just went. I decided to be careful and decided to get it! First, I added a lot - more bacon, more spice, more tomatoes, more olives. Still, a bit too tangy and mayonnaise tasting so I gave it a good dollop of sour cream to soften it - and some half-and-half. And some chopped green onions. And some frozen peas. And then more dry ranch dressing mix. I kept adding and tasting along the way (I loved the process) until I had something respectable both in appearance and taste. Had the Wrenchology recipe pasta salad been prepared as written, I think it would have been a forgotten dish on the dinner table. With my changes (basically it called for a little more of everything, plus some sour cream and chopped green onions) it's comparable to the Ranchology recipe pasta salad sold at gourmet markets
